Why I Chose the CFP®: An Investment Analyst Journey

I wanted to help clients manage their portfolios and assets, but the idea of estate planning and budgeting didn't thrill me too much. As an investment analyst, my day-to-day functions involve only a few areas outside investments. In this blog, I discuss why I completed the CFP exam and my journey to complete the exam in March 2024.

I looked at many different financial designations when I switched careers to financial services. With so many different designations, I was confused about what to pursue. In my first role in financial services, I created financial plans and analyses for big-time Ameriprise advisors (real grunt work). I began the education process for the exam but had to work hard to focus until I switched roles. I knew I wanted to work on the investment management side of financial services, and being a holistic planner didn’t appeal to me.
