Graduation

A few weeks ago on LinkedIn, I shared the cover page of my MBA research project, and several colleagues reached out, asking if I would post the full research. Today marks my final day in graduate school, and I’m proud to say I have officially completed my MBA!

A few weeks ago on LinkedIn, I shared the cover page of my MBA research project, and several colleagues reached out, asking if I would post the full research. Today marks my final day in graduate school, and I’m proud to say I have officially completed my MBA!

Fifteen years ago, in 2010, I was flying drone surveillance missions as a U.S. Marine in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. At the time, I never imagined that 15 years later, I’d be in wealth management, completing graduate school.

Many friends and colleagues have asked about my experience, and I have nothing but positive things to say. I pursued this degree not for the credentials, but simply for myself—to achieve a personal goal.

Education is a privilege we often take for granted when we focus solely on what it can bring us rather than the pure joy of learning. My grandfather immigrated to New York City as a homeless 13-year-old, having left school at just 12 years old. Both my grandfathers were drafted during Vietnam and lacked the opportunities that are now provided to me. Their journey has constantly reminded me how valuable education truly is.

In Afghanistan, when the Taliban takes over a village, one of the first things they seize are the schools; because knowledge is power.

As part of my MBA journey, I dedicated my final research paper to the growing trend of alternative assets for retail investors. I hope this research contributes to the industry and adds value to financial advisors as we enter a new era of portfolio management for retail investors.

I’m grateful for this journey, for the lessons learned, and for the opportunities ahead. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way!
