It seems like every year there is a debt fiasco in Washington where the government is about to "shut down." Happy Thanksgiving! A little time off work is more time to do some research! Since I began studying investing the US Debt has been a topic of discussion. It seems like every year there is a debt fiasco in Washington where the government is about to “shut down.” Then, Congress passed a budget at the last hour because they cared so much about Ms. Maryann’s social security payment! Over the last decades, the US Debt ceiling and budget have become a political tool, and neither party in Washington is willing to run a balanced budget. Although the debt talks always seem to come up, we keep chugging along. In this blog, I will discuss the current debt situation and walk through what this means for asset holders and portfolios. As citizens, all debt belongs to the citizens, and with rising debt levels, what are the possible implications for future generations?
